City Eats: London

If you're coming to London and don't know where to eat, here are my recommendations...

Grab a bite for lunch at Franco Manca

Price range: £4.50-£6.95
Bookings: Unfortunately no- get there at or before 1 or you'll have to queue!
Must have: The number 4 with added caramelised onions- seriously.
Locations: They're all over the place- Tottenham Court Road is good if you're in the Soho area.

Have a seriously good supper at Jackson & Rye

Price range: £15-£30 p.p.
Bookings: Yes! Book here or you'll be queuing for a good hour at peak times.
Must have: The fried chicken as your main course and the marshmallows with blood orange sorbet for pud.
Locations: Richmond, Chiswick & Soho.

Wander around Borough Market

Price range: As much or as little as you like- take £15 and you'll leave with a full belly and a pocket of change.
Must have: A doughnut from Bread Ahead- take one to munch while browsing and one for the road.
Locations: Southwark.

Indulge on the best burger in London* at Patty & Bun

Price range: £10-£15 p.p.
Bookings: Much to my distress you can't book- go for an early lunch or dinner or you'll have to queue for ages.
Must have: The chicken wings, even if that's all you have.
Locations: James Street (Selfridges) or Liverpool Street.

(*in my humble opinion.)

Brunch at The Breakfast Club

Price range: £10-£15 p.p.
Bookings: Nope, unless you're going to Canary Wharf (bookings through the website). Go for an early breakfast or mid afternoon. Avoid Saturday brunch at all costs!
Must have: The pancakes with berries. They taste like cake.
Locations: Soho, Hoxton, Spitalfields, Angel, Battersea, Canary Wharf.

If you're feeling really fancy, book a table for tapas at Dehesa

Price range: £25-£50 p.p.
Bookings: Through their website here.
Must have: The goats-cheese stuffed courgette flower with honey.
Locations: Soho.

Treat yourself to the best ice cream at Gelupo

Price range: £4-£6
Must have: Bitter chocolate sorbet and blood orange sorbet.
Locations: Soho. (Also served at some restaurants for pudding)
